Louise worked as a police constable with Lincolnshire police for 8 years and she took particular interest in cases involving domestic violence and associated offences. Louise successfully completed courses which trained her to deal with sexual offences and vulnerable or intimidated witnesses.
During her time in the police Louise studied law with the Open University and was awarded a first class BA (Hons) in law in 2008. Louise was awarded a very competent by Nottingham Law School after completion of the Bar Vocational Course in 2009.
Louise completed pupillage with the Crown Prosecution Service at Westminster, London where she undertook all aspects of prosecution work in criminal cases in the Magistrates and Youth courts in central London.
Family
Louise is keen to develop a practice and gain further experience in the sphere of public law cases which involve children. She has undertaken work and conducted advocacy across a range of public law cases including those where there have been allegations of significant harm to children made against parents. Louise regularly appears in the Magistrates and County courts and children has experience of conducting advocacy on a full range of final and interim hearings in cases relating to domestic abuse and all proceedings involving children. Louise takes particular pride in the fact that clients have commented positively about her ability to explain issues in highly emotive situations both empathetically and comprehensively.
Employment
Louise will undertake both claimant and respondent relating to all aspects of employment law work including TUPE, unfair dismissal, discrimination; sex, race, disability, age, unlawful deduction from wages, breach of contract, public interest disclosure, equal pay in Employment Tribunals. She will also provide written advice in the form of merit assessments on all aspects of employment law.
Crime
Louise continues to develop her practice within the field of criminal law by undertaking both prosecution and defence work in the Magistrates, Youth and Crown courts. Louise's interest in domestic violence and associated offences prevails in her criminal practice. Louise also specialises in regulatory crime and driving offences and will provide advice on all aspects of criminal law.
Immigration
Louise has experience of conducting appellate advocacy in respect of asylum, human rights, deportation, EEA, points based system and entry clearance appeals, as well as bail applications for those in immigration detention in both the First Tier and Upper Tier Tribunals. Louise will also provide advice and settle grounds of appeal, where applicable, following immigration decisions.
Louise is an ambassador for the Open University and takes an active role in advising prospective LLB students. Louise enjoys trial running and walking, particularly in the Lake District.
