After completing pupillage in the Chambers of F Ashe Lincoln QC at 9 Kings Bench Walk, Temple, London in 1991 Stuart joined the Magistrates' Courts Service as a legal adviser becoming a Legal Team Manager before leaving in 2011 to return to private practice with New Walk Chambers.  As a member of the court service, which became Her Majesty's Court Service in 2005, Stuart worked in Leicestershire, Cumbria and Cleveland.  Before leaving HMCS, Stuart was responsible for the Family Panel and special legal adviser team dealing with all Family Proceedings Court matters in Leicestershire.

Areas of Practice

Family Law - experience of dealing with both private and public law Children Act cases before County and Family Proceedings Courts and Ancillary Relief proceedings.

Criminal Law - experience of conducting criminal cases on behalf of the Crown and the defence in Magistrates and Crown Courts.  He has a keen interest and many years of experience in road traffic cases.

Civil Law - since joining chambers Stuart has conducted small claims and fast track hearings before the County Courts.  Stuart is hoping to extend his practice into Housing Law.

Court of Protection - Stuart has attended a training course on the Court of Protection organised by Jordan's Publishing and is keen to extend his practise into this area.

interests

Baroque music, English literature, political and military history, motorcycling (Stuart has trained new riders for their Compulsory Basic Training certificate), classic cars and karate.
