Areas of practice
Family: all aspects of family law, with a particular emphasis on matters concerning children, including;
- Private law children – all applications for Child Arrangements Orders and applications brought under the Children Act 1989 including: -
- Applications for parental responsibility orders;
- Applications for prohibited steps orders to include acting for parents who wish to remove, or oppose the removal, of their child from the jurisdiction of England and Wales;
- Applications for specific issue orders including permission to change a child’s name when agreement cannot be reached, cultural disputes such as changing or educating a child under a particular religion.
- Applications which concern disagreements about where or how a child should be educated.
- Applications for leave to remove a child from the jurisdiction either temporarily or permanently.
Victoria represents both applicants and respondents at all stages, from FHDRA/first directions hearings through to final hearing, including interim contested and finding of fact hearings.
Victoria has experience in representing parents involved in cases concerning sexual abuse, domestic violence and/or other welfare concerns.
- Public law proceedings – representation of Local Authorities, Children’s Guardians, parents and relatives involving all applications brought under the Children Act 1989 and the Adoption and Children Act 2002.
- Domestic Violence – applications for non-molestation orders under the Family Law Act 1996. Victoria regularly accepts instructions from applicants seeking orders preventing harassment and the use and threat of violence from previous partners/other related parties and also for respondents to such applications.
Immigration: Victoria has a variety of experience in all areas of Immigration law including;
- Entry Clearance applications/appeals;
- Human Rights applications/appeals;
- Applications for indefinite leave to remain;
- Cases concerning EEA nationals and/or the family members of EEA nationals;
- Asylum Appeals;
- Deportation hearings;
- Bail hearings.
